ACL Division 3 Round 5 Gortletteragh vs Ballinamore Sean Ó Heslin's

A rare Sunday game seen the Divison 3 lads at home for the second week in a row against Ballinamore in the park. With no Senior action this weekend both teams had a strong compliment of players and the early exchages reflected this, lots of running and shots at goal takes by both teams with a lot of wides too. Among the highlights of the half was Barry Tiernan being pulled down with a goal on the cards but the Ballinamore 'keeper dived low to his left to keep out Mark Duignans penalty, and Gavin Mitchell dropping a long range free wide out on the right, exactly over the black spot to leave us two behind at the half. The second half was just as edgy as the first with Ballinamore taking the chances they got to jump into a 0-9 to 0-4 lead, two yellow cards in quick succession meant we finished the game with 14 butn the lads rallied and found the scores to bring us back within three but it was as close as we got as Ballinamore got and insurance score at the end to leave it Ballinamore 0-10, Gortletteragh 0-6 at the final whistle.

ACL Division 3 Round 4 Gortletteragh vs St. Patrick's Dromahaire

After having this game refixed for Cornageeha the lads were hoping to build on last week's win over Manorhamilton with a win over Dromahaire in Divison 3. The lads were quick out of the traps and raced into a 0-6 to 0-1 point lead, courtesy of four Derek Kelleher points from play, one a fantastic long range effort, which David Mulvey added to with a long range effort of his own, and Peadar Cassells also got in on the scoring. However Dromahaire were not for sitting back and a flurry of points from them after a great diving stop by Niall Tiernan in the goals ensured the teams were level at the break. The second half followed the same pattern as the first, Gavin Mitchell converted a free following an early Dromahaire score and Darren Clarke capitalised on a loose ball in the penalty area for a goal to give us a two point lead. Dromahaire picked it up again and kicked four without reply before we registered our third score of the game to leave a goal between the sides. Despite the introduction of Padraig Gallager and Alan McCann in the forwards, we couldnt conjure a score and Dromahaire added a few more scores from frees before the final whistle to leave five points between the sides after a good game of football.

ACL Division 3 Round 3 Gortletteragh vs Glencar-Manorhamilton

After an opening weekend three point loss to Eslin and our second round game with Melvin Gaels postponed, the Junior A team took the field for the second time at home this year. In a tight first half there was not a lot separating the two teams, a great goal from Neil Quinn and points from Jimmy Canning, Gavin Mitchell and Peadar Cassells among the first half highlights. The second half was also a closely contested affair, Manor hit for a goal to leave the game in the balance with about fifteen minutes to go but with some great defending of a few goal mouth scuffles at our end  and Kevin McGrath winning a lot of breaking ball from Niall Tiernan's kickouts we weathered the storm and with sub Evan Ward's point  a late flurry followed. Gavin Mitchell added a goal from well outside the penalty area and a trademark Darren Clarke goal following not long after, capitalising on a short Manor kickout gone awry. Peadar Cassells wrapped up the scoring with a left footed point from a tight angle to leave it Gortletteragh 3-9 to Glencar Manors 2-4 and the first points on the board for the team in the Division 3 League.
